Families are getting the chance to decide how to improve their neighbourhoods in London’s East End.
A series of public meetings held by Tower Hamlets Council in each of its 17 wards is to decide how to spend £170,000 on communities.
Each ward with its own resident-run forum and £10,000 to spend on the area is holding its second meeting during February to decide which idea to go ahead with.
Residents at the first round in December decided what the priorities were and came up with ideas such as healthy food awards for restaurants, a community festival, a children’s play area, planting fruit trees, more cycle racks, pop-up smoothie bars, music facilities and art classes. The ideas are being analysed before the second round votes on them.
