POLICE from across east London have joined forces as part of a hard-hitting operation designed to tackle fuel thefts from petrol stations.
Officers have been working together as part of an initiative codenamed Operation Blowtorch, to target drivers who fill up at the pump and speed away without making payment.
Officers deployed a number of tactics including the use of unmarked police vehicles at several hotspot garages and high-visibility patrols in east London and officers have also been liaising closely with petrol station owners.
