STUDENT Michael Amaning has landed a role in the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Dunsinane.
The 20-year-old, in his first year studying BA Theatre Studies at the University of East London plays one of the 12 soldiers and a Scottish Lord in the play by David Greig.
It has already had its premiere at the Hampstead Theatre. The play is about the take-over of Scotland after the death of Macbeth.
“It’s challenging juggling acting with my university course work,” says Michael. “I had rehearsals every Saturday, then it was every day.
“On stage, I am singing about wanting to go back to England with the other soldiers after being in Scotland so long.”
Treading the boards is nothing new to Michael. He was working at the National Youth Theatre before joining the Univesity of East London last year. He also played a young father in prison in Fathers Inside in September at London’s Soho Theatre.
