DETECTIVES have released a CCTV image today of a man they're looking for who pushed a passenger onto a live rail on the London Underground.

The 30-year-old passenger managed to clamber back onto the platform at Plaistow station in East London before a train approached and was unhurt.

"He was minding his own business when he was pushed on to the tracks," said Det Con Richard Guinan.

"The attacker then ran out of the station and down Plaistow Road towards the High Street.

"There could have been grave consequences had a train been approaching."

British Transport Police are appealing for public help to identify the suspect involved in the incident on November 17 at 12 noon.

They are urging anyone who knows him or has information to contact Transport Police, quoting incident number 208 of November 17, on Freefone 0800-405040, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
