East London training scheme helps graduates soar like ‘Eagles’

A training scheme is giving east London graduates six months paid work with a company in the City or
The East London Business Alliance is welcoming the newest graduates onto its ELBA Graduate Local
Employment Scheme – known as EaGLES for short.
EaGLES works with graduates interested in a career in Corporate Social Responsibility, and has seen 96 per cent of its candidates successfully completing the scheme since its launch in 2005.

Candidates have three weeks of intensive training followed by a six month paid work placement at one of ELBA’s member companies.
They will learn from organisations such as Credit Suisse, Freshfields and Schroders.

A spokeswoman from ELBA said: “This is a really invaluable programme which offers young people from east London opportunities that they tend to otherwise miss out on.
“The EaGLES scheme takes on those young people, and gets them work-ready so that they are able to go into the employment market and act as role models for their peers – proving that east London young people are great
employees and a valuable part of the emerging work force.”
