Children play in the Cardboard City

A range of activities are on offer in East End parks this week as part of a charity initiative to get more people heading outdoors.

Picnics, nature workshops and even a cardboard city for children and their parents are part of a range of organised treats which kick off on Saturday July 23.

Charity GreenSpace, organising the events, aims to double the number of people visiting parks and open spaces to hit the one million mark.

A family day and nature workshop is being held at Victoria Park on July 30.

At Mile End Park the cardboard city, which allows children to make their own huts, will be set up on Wednesday (July 27).

To book a place on the nature workshop call Karen on 07815 591279 or email
