Children from eight schools have an exhibition of their classroom artwork later this month to mark the third year of a partnership with professional artists in London’s East End.

The eight Docklands primary schools involved, all in Poplar and Limehouse, have been working with Bow Arts education charity which runs projects and children’s art clubs, as well as training for teachers.

Pupils used their new expertise to research better learning environments at Manorfield and Mayflower schools, while children at Lansbury Lawrence and Bygrove schools designed, made and sold creative products.

“It’s exciting seeing pupils make professional artwork,” Bow Arts’ Rob Smith said. “It gives us confidence for the future with talented, creative and enterprising young minds bringing London to life.”

Bow Arts works with 10,000 pupils and teachers every year in 90 schools across London, raising children’s attainment and increasing the ‘take up’ in the arts.

The exhibition on March 24 at the Spotlight centre in Hay Currie Street, in Poplar’s Langdon Park neighbourhood, displays work by the children over the past year. Creative workshops are also included in the exhibition for pupils to share their new skills.

The eight schools involved are Bygrove, St Saviour’s, Lansbury Lawrence, Stebon, Manorfield, Wellington, Mayflower and Woolmore.
