Tower Hamlets council has been praised in a recent OFSTED report for its safeguarding and looked after children services.
The report awarded the council with an overall rating of “good”, with several elements of childrens’ care deemed “outstanding.” The council received the fourth best rating of any London borough.
It said: “The ambition for, and prioritisation of, safeguarding services to children and young people in Tower Hamlets is outstanding.”
The council claim that the number of looked after children in the borough has decreased by 25 per cent in the last two years.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by our Children’s Social Care Teams. I am delighted that our commitment to tackling inequality, strengthening cohesion and making Tower Hamlets a great place to live, work and visit has received Ofsted recognition.”
