Teachers at Tower Hamlets College plan a walk out tomorrow as part of a London-wide strike over government pension cuts.
Staff will be holding a protest organised by the UCU union outside the college’s Poplar campus.
UCU representative Richard McEwan said: “We’re being asked to work longer and pay more and get less back.”
Under government pension plans teachers would have to work until aged 68 and pay another 500 a year in pension contributions while the value of pensions would decrease by about 20 per cent, Mr McEwan said.
The demonstration at the Poplar Campus is taking place tomorrow morning from 7am to 10am before teachers head to central London for a mass demonstration outside the Department of Education.
