More than 70 per cent of Year Six pupils in Tower Hamlets got into their first choice of secondary school yesterday.

National offer day saw texts and emails sent out to parents detailing where their child had secured a place for September.

91 per cent of pupils had an offer in their top three choices, which beat the London average of 87 per cent. 66 per cent of London’s pupils received their first choice.

Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs said: “The latest results are a testament to the hard work and strategic efforts of our school admissions and place planning teams as well as the excellent support that our schools provide to parents and children throughout the school admissions process”

Last year, 72 per cent of Tower Hamlets’ pupils received their first choice offer.

Parents and students had to submit their list of six choices in October. If they aren’t satisfied with today’s results, they may appeal.
