Ashley Banjo and cast members of Disney On Ice hosted a ‘Fit to Dance’ workshop today for some lucky children from Bethnal Green’s Chisenhale Primary school in east London.
Ashley created stories and choreography inspired by the undersea world of The Little Mermaid and snowy mountainside from Frozen that feature in the Disney On Ice Passport to Adventure which tours Britain later this month.
“Encouraging children to use their imagination is what I do for a living,” Ashley said. “It works as part of the school curriculum, too.”
The children took part in the ‘Fit to Dance’ workshop as part of a Disney education programme of creativity through storytelling and dance. They created and performed their own stories in a routine with a little help from Ashley and the cast.
Audiences go on a journey in Disney On Ice presents Passport to Adventure exploring the magic worlds of The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Frozen.
The show skates into Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield and London from September 22 to December 30.
