Bethnal Green school praised as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors

PUBLISHED: 15:00 11 June 2013

Inspectors from schools watchdog Ofsted have given a Bethnal Green secondary an ‘outstanding’ rating.

Morpeth School, in Portman Place, was praised for its leadership, safety of pupils, high morale levels and academic achievements.

Head teacher Sir Alasdair MacDonald said: “We are delighted with Ofsted’s findings. We have always aimed for excellence, and it is gratifying to see our efforts have paid off. “Ofsted’s verdict of outstanding is recognition of the work of the whole school community – pupils, staff, parents, governors and our local authority.”

The school caters for both boys and girls between 11 and 18. It was also praised by inspectors for its support for pupils with special educational needs and its opportunities for pupils to engage in the arts and music.
