A student from Canary Wharf has secured a place at university for September - accompanied by her guide dog.

Charlotte Nickson, 23, confirmed her place to study accounting and financial information systems at the University of Greenwich following a call to the clearing hotline.

She said: “I spent time in hospital during the exam period, so I knew I’d probably need to go through clearing.

“It was a bit scary, but everyone’s been really lovely and supportive.”

Charlotte, who is registered blind, will be travelling to the university’s campus near Greenwich Park from her home and will bring her guide dog Layla with her.

She said: ““When I went to the open day in June I spoke to student support services and said I’d need some extra help. They arranged to meet with me to see what I’d need.

“The team were absolutely amazing – even before my place was confirmed, they made sure that everything was in place.”
