Bow primary school to hold historic reunion
Former classmates of a Bow primary school will have the chance to meet for the first time in more than 50 years on Friday at a special reunion.
Former classmates of a Bow primary school will have the chance to meet for the first time in more than 50 years on Friday at a special reunion.
The event is aimed at ex-pupils and teachers of Stebon Preimary School, Wallwood Road, who attended between 1950-1980 and will feature an appearance by the mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman.
Orgainiser Stan Kaye, who turned 60 last Sunday, tracked down ex-pupils and teachers through Facebook from as far as Australia and Dubai, with as many as 45 expected to attend.
Former headmistress Audrey Sutton, 90, who also started Redbridge’s Alzheimer’s Society and has been featured on TV-show This is Your Life, will meet some of her ex-pupils for the first time since teaching them.
Among the former students expected to attend are one-time world flyweight boxing champion Charli Magri and stand-up comedian Lee Hurst, a former panellist on BBC sports-comedy programme They Think It’s All Over.
The reunion will take place at the Poplar school from 1630-18:00 before moving on to the Widows Son pub on Devons Road.

Mr Kaye, formerly of St Pauls Way, has also orchestrated a poppy-planting campaign which has gained worldwide publicity aimed at generating more support for Remembrance Day among young people. reunion
Those attending Friday’s get-together will be shown round the school by the current staff, before taking part in a special poppy-planting ceremony in the grounds.
