Eight dragons are being lifted into place in Victoria Park today - coinciding with the Chinese New Year.
The golden dragons will sit on top of the padoga on the West Lake, a reconstruction of the original building that stood in the park since its opening in 1847.
The reconstructed pagoda is part of a �12 million programme to restore the park to its former Victorian glory in time for the London Olympics this summer.
The original pagoda was sold to the park for �110 following its starring role as the entrance to the Chinese Exhibition in Hyde Park between 1841-43. But the pagoda was pulled down in the 1950s following war damage.
The restoration programme funded by the council, the Big Lottery Funding and the Heritage Lottery Fund, is the biggest investment in the park since its creation.
