CHILDREN learnt about nature in a fun way during the first of a new year of wildlife weekend play sessions in the East End.

Tots as young as two joined their mums and dads at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park in Bow over the weekend to get creative while getting up and personal with some of the plants and animals that occupy the park in the winter.

It was the first of the new year line-up of learning adventure days for the group, named Bow Beasties Wildlife Watch Club.

The children learnt about wildlife in the ponds as well drew pictures and played games on Saturday (January 15).

Ken Greenway, of the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, said: “The kids plan what they want to do all year. So in winter, we all decide what wildlife we can learn about and then that changes as the seasons do. It’s about making it fun for them.”
