SCHOOLS in the East End will have to come to terms with a national �162 million loss in sports funding, with the borough’s school sports partnership to be scrapped from next year.

Tower Hamlets will suffer a loss of �350,000 worth of funding for sport in schools and East End youngsters could lose out on vital sport activities and clubs.

More than 90 schools in the borough currently benefit from the school sports partnership which will no longer be funded from April 2011 following the Government’s comprehensive spending review last month.

The 675 core staff who run England’s 450 partnerships will lose their jobs.
