Free elementary English courses have been started by the Lifetime Learning charity to help what it says are a million people in Britain unable to communicate with others.
The courses being held on the Isle of Dogs in east London aim to give those left feeling isolated a chance “to have a voice again” as a basic human right, especially with social media expanding.
The courses are every Monday at Angel House, at 225 Marsh Wall, near Canary Wharf. Lifetime Learning can be contacted on 020-7001 7730.
The charity’s aims are helping people struggling with unemployment. But its main funding comes by providing courses for Tower Hamlets schools.
