The sounds of the Beatles were recreated this week as schoolchildren boarded the “John Lennon Tour Bus” to record hits of their own.
Aspiring musicians from Bethnal Green’s Morpeth School hopped aboard the coach to jam with their instruments and write, record and video their own pieces of music.
Nick Robinson, who is Morpeth School’s music development manager, said: “The music department at Morpeth School has a rich tradition of music making beyond the classroom, and this amazing project is just one of the many ways pupils can get involved in the innovative and vibrant music curriculum.”
The tour bus was launched earlier this year to invoke the spirit of the “fab four”, and has won the endorsement of Yoko Ono. Pupils hopped aboard for the recording session at the school, in Portman Place, on Tuesday.
