YOUNGSTERS have been given reflective wrist-snaps by a car dealership in East London to make it safer for them in the streets as the winter days get darker.
Pupils at Manor Primary in Plaistow were given 350 of the special wristbands by Dagenham Motors as part of Road Safety Week, November 10-16.
The idea is to make sure the kids can be seen better by motorists on their way to and from school, especially those riding bikes.
It was organised by Brake, the national road safety charity, to get across messages about the need for vigilance over the winter months when there is less daylight and road conditions are more treacherous.
Road deaths in Britain reached 3,000 last year alone, safety campaigners point out, with another 29,000 seriously injured—that’s 609 people every week.
