A large scale multi-coloured artwork of butterfly papercuts is going on display in Canary Wharf.

Artist Cissy Cook will be exhibiting her meticulously cut butterflies at the Window Galleries, opposite Waitrose, on Canada Square, from February 24.

Set inside a 1.5 by 1.5 metre large frame, crating a three-dimensional effect, the butterflies will be able to create movement and cast shadows.

Ms Cook has worked in art direction for TV dramas and comedies for BBC, Channel Four and ITV, and has been working with paper for seven years.

It is the first time the West-London based artist is exhibiting her work in the East End.

She said: “I’m very excited about showing my work here because there is lots happening here for artists -and of course with the Olympics coming —it’s definitely where to move forward.

“I hope the bright and positive butterfly piece will bring on feelings of Spring and brighten up the grey start to the year.”

Her decorative piece will hang in the window for a month, as part of the Events Programme at Canary Wharf.
