Pupils at Arnhem Wharf Primary are staging a two-month public exhibition of their dinosaur drawings which they have been using in scientific and art lessons to learn about the prehistoric creatures.
The Isle of Dogs school was invited by Canary Wharf Group to display their miniature dinosaur sculptures in the Community Window gallery at Canada Place Shopping Mall during January and February.
“We are particularly proud of the recognition we’ve received for our work in the arts,” the school’s Janet Banzaca said. “We have been awarded both Sing Up Platinum and Artsmark Gold standards.”
The sculptures were fashioned in clay and were based on observational drawings of dinosaur models.
Their designs were inspired by research the youngsters did in school and by a visit to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington.

They also made a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops for the school garden, large-scale willow sculptures made under the direction of community artist Jane Rogers from Bow Arts in a series of workshops in 2013.
Arnhem Wharf, with pupils from the ages of three to 11, promotes learning in a stimulating environment.
