The MP for Bethnal Green and Bow joined a Whitechapel primary school in celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Rushanara Ali visited Osmani Primary School in Vallance Road last week as part of the celebration.
Ms Ali said: “It was a real pleasure to meet and speak to so many of the dedicated teachers, parents and students that have made Osmani such an outstanding local primary school.”
She praised the school for its partnership with Merrill Lynch, part of Bank of America, to support extracurricular activities and help raise student aspirations. “Programmes such as this joined with the dedication and commitment of teachers and parents has seen students at Osmani achieve above the national average in English, maths and science, she said”
Osmani Primary School was awarded most improved primary school in the country in 2001 and graded ‘good with outstanding features’ by OFfsted in 2007.
