Tea lady Susan Gregory was busy giving a rare insight into her dealings with big business in her masterclass to university students in London’s East End.

The Nestlé food supremo, once the global director for Black Tea at Unilever Foodsolutions, gave an expert marketing session to postgraduates at Glasgow Caledonian University’s Spitalfields campus.

She later chipped in that she hoped her masterclass “gave them greater insight into the world of blue chip companies.”

The marketing expert spoke about her time with multi-national corporations—then paused to explain how she set up her own tea company, Pause, to market sustainable breakfast tea products and continues running the business while working with Nestlé.

Stephen Holt, Head of the university’s Spitalfields campus who invited Susan for tea afterwards, said: “She is a highly respected figure in the marketing industry—it was fantastic hearing first-hand how her passion for sustainable tea led her to set up her own company.”

Susan shared strategic and tactical insight with students on the need for ‘smart work’, keeping in touch with the customer and building a network to “stand out from the crowd.”
