Nine out of 10 pupils starting school in September have secured a spot at one of their top three choices in Tower Hamlets.

Of the 2,740 children requiring a year seven place, 91 per cent got into one of their three preferred choices – and 71 per cent will start off in their top choice of school.

Parents across the borough received letters at the beginning of March telling them whether their applications for their children’s school places were successful.

Tower Hamlets Council’s cabinet member for children Cllr Oliur Rahman said: “The admissions figures are a testament to the popularity of our schools, which are achieving high levels of attainment and producing outstanding results year on year.”

Those applicants who were unsuccessful in gaining a place at one their top choices have been provided details of those schools in which places remain available.
