Autistic children at Bow’s Phoenix School are benefitting after the opening ceremony of a new building unveiled as part of a £7m refurbishment.
The ceremony also marked the launch of a two week art festival at the school, which caters for autistic children and has moved to a more prominent location in a bid to raise awareness of autism in the community.
The celebrations also included the unveiling of a Phoenix tapestry, to which all of the school’s pupils contributed.
Head teacher Stewart Harris said: “This new building is a realisation of our aspirations for children who attend the school and a shining beacon for autism within the community.
“It will inspire us to push at the boundaries of good practice and to make what is an outstanding school even stronger.”
