Teams donning sporty outfits or wacky or fashionable costumes ran alongside workers in hard hats tossing pancakes near Brick Lane to raise money for charity.
But it was a team of chefs who ran off with the winning prize - an engraved frying pan - at The Great Spitalfields Pancake Race, on Shrove Tuesday, along Dray Walk by The Old Truman Brewery.
There was also prizes for the best dressed, and music by the Lost Marbles String Band and clowns providing entertainment.
The event was organised by Alternative Arts in Hanbury Street in aid of London Air Ambulance based on top of the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
