An East End primary school is top of the class after doing such a good job that it has just been selected to teach other schools in the area how to get the most from their staff.
Bygrove Primary School is one of only 150 schools in England to be granted “teaching school status” in the latest batch of training institutions announced by the National College for School Leadership, which is part of the Department for Education.
It means the school, in Bygrove Street, Poplar, will lead the training and professional development for staff in surrounding schools by working with other partners, including at least one university.
Headteacher Jo Franklin said she and fellow headteacher Jeremy Iver were “really excited” when they heard the news.
She added: “We look forward to sharing whatever expertise we have with other schools and working together to give children the best possible chance of success.”
