Pupils at a school in London’s East End have their winning radio advert being transmitted on air in the morning.

A competition to create a radio promotion with a professional jingle urging listeners to recycle more was won by pupils at Whitechapel’s London Islamic School.

All primary and secondary schools in the East End were invited to take part in the Real World Challenge organised by Tower Hamlets Council’s waste contractor, Veolia, and UTV Media.

The youngsters were told of their win by Veolia at School Assembly on April 29.

Their winning advert is scheduled to be broadcast at 10am tomorrow on Reprezent Radio 107.3FM.

They had been asked to write and record a 60-second promotion encouraging more recycling at home as part of the U Create project.

The four finalist schools also included Culloden Primary, Old Ford Primary and Central Foundation Secondary.

But London Islamic’s advert got the most views and likes to win the competition after the commercials were uploaded to the Veolia YouTube channel on March 16 and the public voted for their favourite over a fortnight.
