Professors at the University of London’s Queen Mary campus are throwing their lot in with lecturers at Warwick University for a joint programme of study and setting up cultural festivals together.
The new partnership aims to expand opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds in both east London and the Midlands through recruitment, research and teaching, as well as post-doctorate research fellowships such as Ethnicity & Mental Health in Post-War Britain and other subjects.
Jointly-organised cultural and literary events are planned, starting with Warwick’s book festival later this year, followed next year by a literary festival at Queen Mary’s Mile End campus planned by a professor from each university.
