Queen Mary University has cemented its status as the East End’s most pretigious further education establishment by breaking into the top 150 universities in the world.

The QS world rankings, which were published earlier this month, showed that Queen Mary had moved 25 places higher than last year, now standing at 147th out of a total of 700 universities worldwide.

The findings show that the university, which has its cumpus in Mile End, is also three places higher than last year when measured against other UK universities making the table, at 23rd.

Queen Mary’s principal Professor Simon Gaskell said: “This significant rise in our global and national position, in the same year that we also joined the Russell Group of leading UK universities, consolidates Queen Mary’s international reputation as an institution committed to research and teaching excellence.”
