Queen Mary university is to host an evening of events on Friday (September 28), including the construction of a 20,000 block lego universe, in a bid to show off the university’s research credentials.
The university is one of three venues in the UK to be holding a researchers’ night, which bring togeher members of the public, academics and artists to celebrate the potential for research to improve people’s lives. The evening will mark the first public use of the People’s Palace, a Grade II listed building which was recently refurbished at a cost of �6m.
These celebrations are to include a lego universe which is to be created in the university’s Mile End campus, a variety of lectures and workshops, and a talent show.
Vice principal for external relations professor Peter McOwan said: “This is the first time a talent show, harking back to the great East End tradition of musical hall entertainment, has been part of the line-up.
“It is an ideal opportunity to explore the university, try out state-of-the-art technology and take part in fascinating experiments with our academics,”
