Tower Hamlets College was toasting student success this week with a seven per cent rise in the number of students securing university places this year compared to last year.

Eighty-four per cent or 343 students, aged 16 to 19, successfully applied for a university place this year, compared to 77 per cent last year �—seven per cent above the national average for 2010.
College principal, Michael Farley, said: “It demonstrates we are committed to removing barriers and raising achievement for everyone. The breadth and quality of universities our students have progressed to is the result of the hard work of students, as well as staff, who have supported them every step of the way.”
Students will be studying for their degrees at places, including high-ranking institutions such as University College London, Lancaster University and Imperial College.
