A primary school and nursery with more than 400 places has opened in Bow Common.
St Paul’s Way Foundation School, which will be part of St Paul’s Way Trust secondary school and sixth form, will offer 390 primary and 30 nursery places.
The building was opened on Wednesday by Grahame Price, CEO of the University Schools Trust, which runs the school.
He said: “Five years ago we had a vision for this school and it is absolutely fantastic to see it realised. What a difference this school will make to the lives of local children for many years to come.”
The £8.5 million school includes a sports hall, community centre and a playground built around a Wingnut tree, in a bid to encourage outdoor reading. The school, which was built by developers Telford Homes, will open its sports hall for use by the local community.
The existing St Paul’s Way Trust School is rated outstanding by Ofsted and caters for nearly 1,000 students.
