Young musicians hit the right notes when they performed at the Indigo2 for the Jack Petchey Foundation charity.

A youth orchestra from Tower Hamlets were among the performers at an extravaganza featuring young people from 10 east London boroughs.

They joined forces to perform “Gateway Fiesta”, an original piece written by award-winning composer Thomas Hewitt Jones to raise money for the foundation, which aims to ‘”raise the aspirations of young people”.

Jack Petchey (CBE) said: “This was a huge and ambitious undertaking.

“There is a famous saying ‘music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’. We saw how true this was when our young performers took to the stage.

“It’s not just about the money. It’s more about what these young people can achieve given support no matter what their circumstances”, he added.
