A programme helping east London’s jobless youngsters who fall through the net has been shortlisted for a Community Impact award and now needs the public’s online vote.
The intensive seven-week ‘Future Moves’ programme run by the Poplar Harca housing organisation earlier this year involved working one-to-one with young people at risk of falling through the gaps in the employment system.
It was tailor-made for each of those taking part, helping them to understand their own ambition and to create a clear career path for them to rethink their lives and the direction they were taking.
Now the organisation’s employment and training team is appealing for public support for the shortlisted project by voting online up to Sunday (November 12), for ‘Future Moves’ to win the National Housing Federation award.
“Housing associations make a huge difference every day to people’s lives and their communities,” the Federation’s chief executive David Orr said. “The quality of entries we received shows the impact housing associations have in our communities every single day.”
The awards are part of Community Impact Week, highlighting the difference housing bodies make for families in helping them among other things to learn new skills for the employment market.
