Young wannabe movie-makers are getting a chance at learning how to create a drama or documentary with award-winning professionals to be screened at this year’s East End Film Festival.

They can apply for places in a project which offers expenses, a film credit, copy of the DVD and an invitation to the gala screening at the festival.

Two short films are being produced at Four Corners studios in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Award-winning British film-makers lead both teams, Jes Benstock the drama production and Kim Hopkins the documentary. Working with them are four professionals from Romania, Golden Owl award and Jury Prize winner Radu Muntean, scriptwriter Alexandru Baciu, film-editor Catalin Cristutiu and BAFTA winning actress Anamaria Marinca.

The studio is looking for youngsters aged 18-25 to be involved in camera, sound, make-up, editing—and even acting.

Applicants have to be available for filming on May 8, 9 and 10, or post-production afterwards, and have to live, study or work in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest, Greenwich or Barking & Dagenham.

The project starts on April 28 with Saturday workshops at Four Corners studios at 121 Roman Road, Bethnal Green. Applications by April 23 online at www.fourcornersfilm.co.uk/east-meets-east.
