Youngsters were given the chance to turn their hands at running an organisation as part of Takeover Day 2012.
The scheme, in its sixth year, gave 30th teenagers the chance to get involved in the decision-making process and pitch their ideas to staff at Tower Hamlets Town Hall.
It was organised by the council’s Youth and Community Services department, and aimed to open up the council and give young people the chance to experience the world of work.
Jahed Miah, of Sir John Cass Sixth Form shadowed Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman for a day earlier this month.
He said: “I have really enjoyed working with the Mayor’s team and finding out in depth how it all works and the changes the Mayor has made for the community. I would definitely recommend Takeover Day to young people.”
