Employment plan aims for 1,000 new Tower Hamlets jobs

PUBLISHED: 07:00 05 September 2013

A ‘community-led initiative’ to tackle unemployment in the East End is aiming to help encourage the creation of 1,000 new jobs in the next two years.

Organisers of the Jobs for Tower Hamlets scheme hope to equip people with the skills to set up new businesses in the area and get the borough working.

The scheme is being run by the London Muslim Centre and religious charity the Faith Regen Foundation, which are bringing together public and private organisations to help reach the daunting target.

It is being launched today at the London Muslim Centre in Whitechapel Road, with an appearance from shadow employment minister Stephen Timms.
