Community groups have been invited to turn the city green with up to £5,000 up for grabs.

Charity Groundwork London has invited people to send in their ideas to create or spruce up community spaces which could include parks, town centres or housing estates in a second call for applications.

The charity’s Martin Petry said: “These grants have provided the opportunity for communities to come together and make the places they live in more enjoyable.”

So far the charity has helped 28 projects in the capital dishing out £62,000 to groups who scooped the Our Space Award.

Mr Petry added: “The first round of the award has been very successful, and we are excited to hopefully see even more applications in the second.”

The award is open to people of all ages and backgrounds with schools also invited to apply.
