East End walk goes batty
PUBLISHED: 15:03 17 August 2010
AN EVENING stroll will introduce families to the bats which live along the River Lea.
Green charity Thames 21 is leading the walk on Thursday, August 26 .
It starts with an introduction to the different bats which can be spotted in the city before walkers set off armed with a bat detector to help them pick up the sounds which bats make and are inaudible to the human ear.
The event starts at the Bow Creek Ecology Park at Bidder Street, near Canning Town underground at 7.45pm and will finish at East India Dock Basin at about 9.30pm.
Spaces are limited so places must be booked in advance and the walk will only go ahead in bad weather, but organisers will phone walkers if they have to cancel the event.
Places can be booked on 0207 0936 382 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
