CLEANING staff working for Eurostar are being balloted for strike action—over their fingerprints. Members of the RMT rail union at London’s St Pancras International terminus are furious about plans to bring in draconian’ measures when reporting for duty where fingerprint machines are to replace traditional clocking-on systems.
The cleaners, working for a contract company, are up in arms over the Big Brother’ issue.
Union officials say the electronic measures treat employees like criminals’ and put vital personal data at risk.
