Pie ’n’ mash punters were surprised to find their traditional East End grub sporting red noses made out of pastry on Friday
The wacky design was the brainchild of Brian Boulter, co-owner of Eastenders Pie ’n’ Mash in Poplar.
“It was brilliant,” he said, “Some of our customers thought we’d gone mad and put cherries on the pies! Some people didn’t know whether to eat them or not, but it was just pastry and food colouring!”
Brian and his staff also hosted a raffle and various games to raise funds for Comic Relief and the restaurant in East India Dock Road managed to raise more than £300.
“Everyone enjoyed it,” Brian said. “It was a really fun day and I think we’ll probably do similar fundraising events in the future now because this was so successful.”
