Youngster excited to join Lancashire outfit and feel they can help him push on in his career

Frazer Shaw has agreed a move to Accrington Stanley after not being offered a new deal by Leyton Orient.

It was confirmed last month that the 21-year-old left-back would be leaving Brisbane Road after just one season.

He made 30 appearances in all competitions – most of them under the management of Ian Hendon. After his departure, Shaw only featured sporadically under Kevin Nolan before missing the end of the season through injury.

The ex-England C international has now made the switch to Stanley and signed a two-year deal with the Lancashire outfit.

“It’s another opportunity for me to push on in my career. I’ve heard it’s a good club so I’m really happy to be coming here,” Shaw told the official club website.

“I just want to really push on now, do well for the club and hopefully we can get promoted.”

Stanley’s assistant manager Jimmy Bell went on praise the ambition of the ex-Orient defender.

He added: “It’s a rarity for us to have a left footed player. He’ll balance the team up and will be a great addition. He can play left-back or up one in midfield and we’re expecting big things from him to tell you the truth.

“We target young and hungry lads. That’s what got us where we were last season and it’s what we’ll do again. I asked Frazer what his ambition was and he said that it was to play at the highest level possible. That’s a great attitude to have.”
