Skipper wants to start training next week
West Ham captain Matthew Upson has received conflicting reports over his Achilles injury.
Upson has tendonitis and has missed West Ham’s matches against Blackpool, West Brom, and Burnley with the injury.
“He doesn’t know where the reports about him being out for the season have come from. Upson has seen two two specialists about his Achilles problem, each providing a different diagnosis. One saying train, the other saying don’t,” Cottee told the Advertiser.
“He obviously wants to play and is hoping to start training next week. West Ham need him, he is the captain and a key player for the club.”
