Football fever has hit Tower Hamlets, with free coaching sessions for girls wanting to take up the beautiful game continuing for a further three months.
Girls aged between the ages of seven and 11 have been kicking off at sessions at the Whitechapel Sports Centre since November.
After huge demand, it has now been announced the training will continue until at least April.
Ten-year-old Anika Zahn, who is one of the girls making the most of the coaching, said: “It’s a good opportunity to meet others and it teaches me different skills and keeps me busy.”
The weekly training sessions are delivered by an all-female team on Saturday afternoons at the centre in Durward Street.
Cabinet member for culture Cllr Rania Khan said: “Football is a fantastic team sport, fun and a great way to get fit. I support the innovative scheme which proves football is not just for boys.”
