PROTESTERS have won their battle against a nightclub in London's East End getting its revoked license back.
They packed out a meeting at Tower Hamlets council objecting to the application by the club in Mile End, formerly known as Purple E3.
The authority revoked the licence last year after police objected to continuous trouble spilling out onto the Mile End Road.
It is now under new management and seeking to reopen, but 70 protesters complained during a Town Hall licensing session that they feared a return to sleepless nights and street fights.
"Everybody is absolutely over the moon," said their action group spokesman David Harper.
"We have had continuous disruption during the night over the past 10 years from club revellers.
"There has also been a lot of litter, vomiting, fights and riots in the streets."
Scores of petitions against the licence were handed in to the Town Hall before last week's meeting.
