POOR Mimi has had her bacon—the famous 10-stone pig with her own Facebook who moved into London’s East End will soon be swapping her natty council flat for life on the farm.

The local housing office has this week served her notice to quit.

High society Mimi, a 20-month-old Vietnamese pot bellied sow, is more used to hobnobbing with humans than hogs.

So she is in for a rude awakening when she has to slum it with the other hogs in a sty at Millwall’s Mudchute Farm on the Isle of Dogs.

NEIGHBOURS

Her neighbours at Bethnal Green’s Blythendale House, off Hackney Road, have been up in arms since Mimi moved in last month with art student owner Silvia Reis.

They complain about strong odours, grunting noises and flies, which has put Mimi in a trough of depression.

One neighbour, Arifa Khannum, told the East London Advertiser: “I can hear it making noises at night. It’s a nuisance.

“It could get out and come into contact with children.”

COMPLAINTS

Tower Hamlets Homes which manages the block for the Town Hall has received 16 complaints about Mimi.

Owner Silvia was “deeply sad” to be separated from Mimi.

“I have looked after her since she was a piglet 10 days old,” she said with moist eyes.

Mimi snorted with discontent. She vented her anger on her Facebook: “Discrimination is a very bitter, ugly word. I am no different to all the poodles and shitzus and pitbulls.”

But the council insists that Mimi must go. A statement said: “No bird, reptile, dog or other animal should be in the property without the previous written permission. To date we have not received a request from her owner or the leaseholder of the flat.”
