Dutch orchid growers have gone to the wall trying to promote the exotic flower to passers-by in London.
They have unveiled an orchid ‘graffiti’ street exhibition in Shoreditch, outside the Village Underground cultural venue in Great Eastern Street, to raise awareness about the versatility of the beauties.
Art of Life, a group of Dutch pot orchid growers, is running a ‘Floral Friday’ promotion tomorrow, alongside the graffiti, with a seasonal Christmas ‘orchid giveaway’.
“There’s no better place to bring the message to life than on the streets of the East End,” the group says. After all, one of Britain’s great flower markets is Bethnal Green’s Columbia Road, less than a mile away.
But time is running out to see the orchid graffiti as the gritty brick façade by Holywell Lane has only been ‘booked’ till Monday (Dec 23) by the ‘Graffiti Kings’ collective.
The orchids now have their own EU website at www.orchidsinfo.eu
