A NEW head chef has taken the helm at the Dining Room at the Whitechapel Gallery.

Michael Paul is joining the historic gallery from the Royal Institute of British Architects in Portland Place, west London.

He said: "My focus will be on modern British food, showcasing quality produce at its best time of year. This will give my menus a natural change and using local, seasonal produce will keep everything very fresh and flavoursome."

He follows award winning chef Maria Elia who has taken time out to write another book about food.

The Dining Room and Café Bar opened in April last year following the reopening of the gallery in Whitechapel Road.
